R.P.E. AND MENTAL HEALTH
A lot of the lifting I have been doing in the past year has been based on RPE- which stands for rate of perceived exertion/effort.
RPE is the combination of physical and mental self-awareness, where I do a continuous head-to-toe assessment to make a decision of my performance every day, in that exact moment.
By listening to my body and mind, I determine the best possible decision for myself based on that interaction.
Some days, the mind/body are strong enough to lead the body to a place it didn’t know it could
Other days, the mind/body is tired, and my effort is lower.
It’s a dance most Athletes are familiar with, constant ups and downs.
So, why not have the same approach with our day to day encounters and interactions?
By listening to our intuition and making the best decisions for ourselves, rather than what we feel is expected of us, we are then choosing to live the life that we desire.
For today, in this exact moment, I am choosing what is best for me- without judgement of where I was before, or where I think I should be.
I am here,
Right now,
In the
Present Moment
And I’m Feeling good….
RPE is a form of self awareness.
Self awareness is a tool to support Mental Health.
By using RPE, for workouts…or in general life, I am supporting mental health.
